The Disease Control Unit in the Birim Central Municipality aims at ensuring an integration of Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) and surveillance functions at all its levels right from the grass root (community) to the Municipal levels in order to enhance early case detection, timely and early reporting and response to the priority diseases for surveillance.

The objective of the unit is to ensure systematic and regular disease surveillance to detect the occurrences, distribution and the trend of diseases with sufficient, accurate and completeness of reporting in order to provide the basis for action.
